Topograin is our signature pattern: topographic contour lines worked through with wood-knot forms, built in steel. It hangs on a wall as art, and it works just as well as a porch railing, a gate, or a screen, made to fit the space.

Every Topograin piece is built for where it's going. Railings follow the run of the porch or stair, gates are built to the opening, and wall art is made to the wall you have in mind, so the pattern scales to your space rather than the other way around.

Common questions

Can Topograin go outdoors?

Yes. The railings and gates on this page live outdoors. Raw steel with a clear sealer develops a patina over time, faster outdoors or in damp conditions. If you want a more stable finish, ask about powder coating before ordering.

Do you ship?

Ready-made pieces are local pickup in Nevada City. If you need something shipped or delivered, get in touch before ordering and we'll quote it. Freight on larger pieces is priced per destination.

How does a custom piece work?

Send a photo of the space and rough dimensions. We confirm the design and dimensions with you in writing before starting. Custom work starts with a deposit, with the balance due on completion.
